River Valley Disciples, a new church start within the Disciples of Christ denomination, was born out of a vision to build a Christ-centered community in an uncertain world. With a mission to welcome everyone, engage in dynamic worship, and foster meaningful relationships, RVD is dedicated to embracing diversity and fostering honest, respectful conversations.
When Pastor Sheldon Henderson approached me in the fall of 2019, I took on the role of marketing director, diving into everything from crafting the logo and brand identity to designing the website and creating engaging video content. The pandemic hit soon after, pushing us to quickly pivot to online worship. I developed a step-by-step guide for virtual services, handled the weekly sermon uploads, and designed eye-catching graphics that captured the heart of each message.
As we adapted to this new normal, I compiled a detailed marketing report that traced our journey from initial concept to our first in-person service. Despite the challenges of isolation, RVD thrived by offering monthly outdoor Common Ground worship services, blending scripture and nature, while maintaining a vibrant online presence. Through creativity and resilience, RVD turned obstacles into opportunities for growth and connection.
